Left for dead Vauxhall Cresta part II

Post by Tinman »

Here is the Cresta nearly done. The tow hitch on the base has been repaired and the base painted. The trim is done on the body. I managed to find 1 additional wheel but still need to locate a fourth wheel to complete he project.

I've run into this argument before, this model has 8.5 mm plastic wheels (all the catalogs list them as 9 mm and later made Cresta's may indeed have 9 mm wheels). The 9 mm wheels don't match (too big) and I will have to find another 8.5. Many seem to think there are no 8.5 mm plastic wheels but it is a real size. The third wheel I found came off a 74a refreshment canteen (one of the canteen's wheels was broken, one was good) and they are 8.5's (as well other models having 8.5's). Some worn 9 mm wheels will measure close to the 8.5, but are still not the same.

The patient is now moved from intensive care and is awaiting final treatment.

I have a set of 8,5 mm wheels for you, just say the word and I send them to you f.o.c.

That would be lovely! Even if they are all four 9 mm's, since it's a set it, will still put the model back on the roadway :)

You have my thanks and I owe you one!

With only three wheels, I had to keep moving one wheel from side to side to make the last two photos :)

Joe, the wheels are in the mail to you. No idea how long that is gonna take.
The somewhat crippled Cresta will run on four feet asap.

I can walk again. I can walk again!
Did they cure you?
No they stole my bike..................
