A pair of rare 25 Series.

Hi all.
Picked up a pair of HTF 25 Series tankers from Holland,

First a really nice orange "Petrol" type 3:

Orange is quite HTF on this model, most orange tankers are type 4's.

Now the mystery, a lovely type 2 "Mobiloil" tanker..

Mystery is this has postwar axles, at first I thought chassis swop, but the body and chassis have fatigue twisted together to make that impossible, so an axle / hub swop? Those hubs look factory fitted, and are no later than 1945 production, so is this a postwar 25 with fatigue? I have two 1945 / 6 25 Series liveried tankers, "Castrol" and "Pool" so they DO exist, but neither have any sign of fatigue.

Don't Know?

Chris Warr.

Hi all,
Just read this post through, and thought "blimey, you're a bit out there kid", anybody want a quick 25 Series ID guide posting? Types etc?
Just a thought.

Post away Chris, but don't add it here or it will get lost, make a new thread as you did with your 'Pre War V Post war Dinky Toys' thread so it can be made 'Sticky' (please Hugh).

I am sure that a guide like that would be welcomed. I also think that ghosties suggestion to make it a sticky in this section of the forum would be the best place for it.

Lovely models, these tankers are amongst my favourite Dinkys of all. What's the chance of the Mobiloil one being part of a very early Post War batch made up of such castings as they had stored from when production stopped?

Cheers all,
I'll get some photos done and get on it.
Ewan, that was my thought, if it is the case it's very important, as it's evidence that pre war made castings were stored and issued again postwar, I don't see how we'll ever know though.
Cheers

More examples turning up would be good enough evidence that castings had been stored, discovered and put back into production. This has happened with more than one product line at Lesney, so surely other companies could have done it.
