Making pipes for the pipe truck!

Post by Tinman »

The trouble with pipe truck beaters is that the pipes are always missing. I decided to make my own pipes and just cutting lengths of some modeler's plastic pipe wasn't going to be enough (because they look like cut lengths of modeler's plastic pipe).

So I decided to make my own pipes. I'm happy with the results, now it's time to see how they look on the truck!

Here is my test pipe mixed in with some Lesney pipes. I'm pleased with the results and headed off to make a full load.

Here's what a cut piece of modeler's plastic pipe looks like. Even when painted, it still looks prettycrude and just nowhere near the right look.

That's a pretty convincing pipe you have made there Joe, looks perfect, they will certainly rescue many more pipe Truck restorations.

That's a great job, they look very good. There's many different pipe colours depending on what they are used for underground, so perhaps it opens up a nice angle for customs if these can be made also in blue, red, green, etc.

It was a pipe dream. I laid some pipe. It was a project that had been in the pipeline for sometime. I piped up.

I found several different diameter pipes. I needed pipe for my drilling trucks.

My personal fave is the last one. Although the Shell truck with the white grille/base is a very nice one.
