We have had this on the forum before and first thoughts are as you say, doubtful, especially coming from a source, where several members here have had doubts about His models.
The thicker axles would require the plastic carriers to be modified to allow them to fit and these carriers are just part of the main interior moulding and it is not possible to see from the pictures if this is what has been done.
More detailed pictures could possibly reveal something about the model to help confirm it's status, but why would old style wheel and tyre combinations be fitted to a mid-80's model.
I would love to have this model in hand for a closer inspection.

as Ghosty said very much out of time line and a sadly dodgy source considering his background if my memory is correct
but a very nice looking model better than the original imho maybe some of you code 3ers could knock some out...??

The rivets never have been presser over...
That statement alone is enough to arouse my suspicions, especially with others having doubts concerning the authenticity of this seller's models. Definitely one to steer clear of without proof of its "pedigree."

That statement and mentioning ex-Lesney employee as well as pro-production are the red flags for me.

The irony is the item is listed in the "Contrmporary Manufacture - Toys & Games".
Contemporary manufacture it truely is!
