Matchbox 72a left for dead

Post by Tinman »

Here is a Matchbox 72a Fordson tractor that was in serious need of rescue. This is what I found in a box of scrap parts and beaters; a 72a missing the entire front axle supports, missing the steering wheel and tow hook (also gone are the axles tires and hubs).

Image

I fashioned a new front axle support (metal) and a new tow hook (also out of metal). Next, I adapted a new steering wheel from another beater (again, out of metal). Here she is with the new parts and some primer.

Because this old gal was left for dead, I think she has earned the right to some yellow hubs and shiny new black tires. I'll post more as I progress (weather is too crappy to paint now).
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

I use aircraft grade paint stripper and a wire brush to get into the tiny spots.
