For Ebay Sellers - Thoughts on Buyers who leave no Feedback

I haven't bought any MB on Ebay (or anywhere) in quite a while. After my interest and money flowed to a different area, I began selling my existing collection, except for some very favorites.
For those of you who do sell frequently, how do you feel about buyers who do not leave feedback? Do you not think twice about it? Do you contact the buyer and inquire? Do you not leave seller feedback until after you receive the buyer feedback?
I have found myself in a situation where 1 negative brought my feedback score down from 100 to 98.6. That's the reason I value every positive I can get. Of course the negative was a total fabrication on the buyers part!
If this topic has been discussed then I apologize for the duplication.
Any thoughts, advice, experiential tales?
Sincerely,
Michael

I only leave feedback when the seller does, cannot be bothered with it all to be honest, seems a silly game when ebay just run away with your trousers at every given opportunity.
It is so big and no real competition the fun has gone out of it.I find all the things that i use to get off the bay like printing ink etc i can buy just as well elsewhere these days.

As a buyer I try to leave it as soon as I am satisfied, and on poor dealings I always wait to see if there will be a good resolution first. As a seller, I leave feedback when I get around to it, usually I wait until I have a few to do and then just copy and paste the same line to each.
As far as recieving it, I stopped caring a few years ago. I couldn't even tell ya what my feedback score is anymore, probably around 700. Seems like nobody really cares anyway, as people still bid blindly on things.

People take this feed back thing too seriously.
Unfortunately anything other than a 100% feedback score can send some potential buyers running away scared, which is a shame, and is a poor relection on many sellers who have immaculate sales history....bar one disgruntled A.Hole who's complaint is upheld by e bay and then all of a sudden you fall from grace to become one of the unwanted who suck farts out of dead pigeons!!!
What gets me is when you see the exposed fakers riding along on their 100% feedback score dripfeeding shit into our wonderful world of diecast and E bay sits back and does f*** all about it, and blatently ignores you when you wish to report an item as a fake only to see it re-listed the following week under a different user name.
E bay is not perfect by any means and i doubt it ever will be!!

That's what I'm saying!
I remember when I was buying I kind of winced when I saw anything less than 100% feedback for a seller.
Stupid Feedback system!

Not trying to be the thread police, and I appreciate your comments, but I was referring to eBay's wacky calculation system which results in a 0-100% user rating. They take your sales and your positive feedback and negative feedback and divide by the speed of light², minus repeat feedback from the same buyer, plus the number of letters in your name. Mine is 98.6%
As several have suggested, I'm not going to waste my time on it!
Thank you all.
Enjoy the weekend!

Like so many other elements of Ebay, the feedback system is flawed.
The most obvious problem is the fact that sellers can't leave negative feedback, no matter how bad the seller.
Another issue is feedback blackmail - if you don't leave positive feedback for me, I won't leave positive feedback for you.
Finally there's the issue of only one half of the feedback being left.
None of this would be rocket science to fix. Simply let sellers leave neutral and negative feedback, and change the system such that all feedback remains hidden and doesn't count towards totals until it has been received from both the seller and the buyer.
Simples!

I understand to what you are refferring. I was only mentioning my total feedback score to assert the fact that I have been there long enough to not care anymore.

My feedback is fairly high at 3707 and I have to say I am quite proud of giving a decent service for 12 years now....I small blip in your star rating can knock your average down badly and that do's not seem fair to me..To get back to the original question I have learnt that no matter how good a service you give even to the extent of going out of your way to supply and even lose on a deal that some people can not find it in there hearts to say "Thank you" or leave even a small recognition on your feedback page......Some will say" You are selling your stuff and they have bought and paid nuff said" .It was the same for me when I used to do the swap meets..It seemed not to register with buyers that the items they where picking over and trying to get for nothing where your property. They then just walked away from you like some vending machine.......When ever I have bought from anyone a mental note has been made to go back and see them again because if I buy stuff its got to be cheap....Thank you's mean repeat buys and possible reductions.....

ford, sorry I misunderstood. I have a 794 (I think that's the total number of transactions(?)?..maybe). And as you say, if the items are selling, who cares about the number!
But, when one dishonest buyer has the ability to hypothetically turn away potential bidders/buyers by leaving a negative rating thereby lowering the sellers magic feedback number, I care.

Idris, your idea would certainly be more "fair" than the current system. I think you accidentally left out "negative" in the sellers feedback options.
Even with all the negatives about ebay, I have to say they are the best at what they do. Those who buy and sell just have to do it THEIR way.
I think I will put a piece of black tape on my display to cover my stinking feedback number.

Correct (and I've now edited the missing word into my original post so that it reads properly).
