Squid's latest finds

Thought I'd share a couple of my recent finds. The 44C GMC refrigerator truck was purchased at an antique store. Considering that models found in such places are usually severely worn and carry asking prices more fit for a mint example, I think $6 US for it is pretty good.

The 12C Safari Land Rover was an eBay purchase. This one I probably overpaid for, but I like Land Rovers quite a bit. It looks washed-out in the photos; in person, the color is much deeper.

Nothing amazingly rare or valuable, but I sure enjoy them. Hope you do, too.

It's a great model, isn't it? I hope to find a green one before too long.

Thought you might be Dave L. who used the SQUID moniker on forums. Nice to meet you Dan, where/when did you serve?

2000-2006. My permanent duty station was San Diego, first aboard USS Lake Champlain and then USS Peleliu. I deployed twice to the Middle East while attached to Peleliu. Based on your signature banner, I'm guessing you might have been in Army aviation?

Everyone loves a Landy, it seems!

The antique store booth where I found the GMC also had a gold Superfast Land Rover Safari, a very nice 33B Zephyr, a gold 36C Diplomat with regular wheels, a 53C Zodiac, and a 58C girder truck (with all girders intact). I haven't been back for a while, but I might return this coming weekend and see which, if any, remain.

They were all there. A 61B, a Superfast 67B, and a Superfast9D were also present. Most of them are still there...

But the 36C came home with me! Cost all of $4.32 (inclusive of Clovis, California's absurdly high sales tax). Considering that the out-the-door price on eBay would almost certainly be higher, I think I did very well with it.

I thought the same as well Joe when I saw 'Squid' - thought it was Dave L. and hadn't seen him around for ages but welcome Dan and enjoy it here.

Welcome Dan. It's always great when you get some good finds from unexpected places. I always check in on antique stores in case there's a rare gem hidden but usually find their prices are way over the top so you did well.
