The Lone Star ranges will be specifically featuring toys or models made under the 'LONE-STAR' brand name, that is the 'Impy', Flyers', 'Impy Commercials', 'New Impy', 'Impy Major', 'Dune Buggies' and 'Tuf-Tots'.

Please try and post any models you have from these ranges under their headings, and please feel free to add anything you feel relates to these ranges.

The first range really needs to be the 'Impy' models as these led to the other ranges through developments within the toy and model car industry.

The Impy Supercars were introduced in 1966 and key selling points were opening doors, boot and bonnet, suspension, steerable front wheels and jewelled headlamps on the cars.

The chosen scale falls within the generic term of '3 incher' models, those designed around the 1/64th scale and they were made in a traditional method of the time with injection diecasting using Mazac. The interiors tended to be moulded from Nylon type plastic and clear glazing fitted to the cars and commercials where required. Tyres were of a hard plastic designed to be of a non-scratch type fitted to bare metal wheels, free rolling on axles.

The first batch of 8 Impy Supercars were introduced to the UK market in April 1966. The following Year 750,000 Impy Supercar models were exported to the US. and from the outset of development there would be American cars in the range, due to their last entry into the US with some 1/50th scale model cars being rather successful.

The Second batch of models introduced across the end of December 1966 and early 1967 included sports cars and commercial vehicles in the form of a Foden Tipper Truck and Fuel tanker.

The commercial vehicles at this time were not a separate range, they were just additional models within the 'Supercars' range, but that would change several Years later.

The price in the UK for a car was 2/11 (Two shillings and Eleven pence), the commercials introduced within the Second batch of models during 1967 were 3/- (Three shillings).

In the US, the cars were 88 cents.
