I'm not sure which category this should be listed under since it covers RW as well as Major Pack and King Size tyres (or tires).

I've noticed the earlier grey 22x30 tires (tyres) used on the 72a Fordson Tractor do not have "Lesney England" cast into them whereas the later black 22x24 tires are cast with "Lesney England".

In general, most of the small tires used on 60's era regular wheels do not include cast text but most of the larger tires (including King Size and Major Packs include Lesney England. The early metal wheels often have the model number, "England" and/or Lesney" cast into the wheels. In the SuperFast era mold numbers were cast into the wheels.

Why were some tires cast with "Lesney England" and others without? Did it have to do with available space on the tire? The hubs for the early grey 72a Fordson tires were 1/2 mm larger than the hubs for the later black tires.
What was the smallest plastic tire with cast text?

Kurt

The smallest tyres with Lesney England lettering that I can think of are the 15X30 tyres as fitted to 28d and 69b and to some Major Pack and King Size models.

As for the reasons why some tyres had that lettering and others did not, I can only guess, and I agree that the available space probably played a part.

Danke Christian,

The rear GPW on the 4b Massey Harris tractor do not have text even though they are relatively large.
Many of the larger softer plastic tires on wheels or hubs seem to have (incised) text.
Most of the metal wheels have (raised) text.

Do any of the larger hard plastic wheels have text?

Thank you
Kurt
