Lord of the 24C missing ring
Lord of the 24C missing ring
I bought this # 24C Matchbox Rolls Royce Silver Shadow for code 3 purposes during the last Namac of 10th October. I showed it o.a. on this VBD Forum. It was Ghosthunter Kevin who spotted it first; the steering wheel is missing its ring. After some closer examination I could only conclude that this was ex- factory. The steering wheel spokes are all there in good order but nothing circular to be found. This is my second Matchbox blooper, and again on a 24C Silver Shadow.

Gerrit, will you now keep the model 'as is' or still do one of your repaint jobs on it.

Hi Kevin, I called you Rollerman, while you VBD'ers know you as Ghosthunter. I made a correction, a real Rollerghoster blooper.
Gonna leave this model as it is.
I have another banger to give a code 3 conversion. The 24C Matchbox is such a nice model car.
Maybe I do something in the way of a 50 anniversary celebration. This fall marks the introduction to the public of the real Silver Shadow in 1965 (the 1966 model). Any suggestions Kevin? Maybe one minute of silence??

I noticed the photograph of a 50th birthday cake in the preceding post. In order to avoid potential copyright infringement issues, would all members please ensure that the source of any photographs which are not their own or free to use, are appropriately referenced and/or credited.

Re: Lord of the 24C missing ring
The steering wheel missing the outer ring I've seen a few times in various models. Not sure what causes it, obviously some fault of the plastic mould. Possibly air trapped in the ring that can't get out so doesn't let the liquid plastic in.

There's few things worse than air trapped in the ring that can't get out. Here's one I've shown before:matchboxkiwi wrote: Possibly air trapped in the ring that can't get out....

I often suffer air trapped in my ring, usually after a big lunch...

The real important question here; is that "happy birthday" thing on top of the cake edible?Idris wrote:I noticed the photograph of a 50th birthday cake in the preceding post. It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
