13d Dodge Wreck Truck

Post by Kiov »

Hello all... I just bought this 13d with a grey hook, also it seems to have silver trim on the front bumper and grille, Just a quick question, does normally the sliver be in these places? Maybe tampered with?

That is not the correct trim for this model. The trim should be to grille, headlights, and numberplate only (not bumper).

It might have had some original silver trim that someone ruined by adding more. But looking at the front grille, I suspect someone added all the trim (after the fact) in an attempt to sell the model at a higher price. It's possible the seller is the one who was duped and bought the model thinking it was original only to find out it's not (and is now dumping the model).

The original reverse color wreckers had silver trim (in the places noted in an earlier post). A very low number of the yellow trucks with green beds (and gray hook) issues had the same mask sprayed silver trim, but these are pretty rare in their own right. The vast majority of all the standard color wreckers with gray hooks have no trim.

Do you know anything about the history of the model? Did it come from a railway collector? These guys like adding trim to models so they look more realistic. It may help to determine if the original trim has been added too.

By the look of all the yellow paint in between the raised parts of the grille, I have serious doubts there is any original mask sprayed trim under there. Regardless, you can't take off the owner added paint without also ruining/removing any factory silver paint.

There doesn't appear to be any silver paint around the headlights. Unless I'm just not seeing it.
