Tekno VW Vans

Post by starni999 »

Hi all,
Thanks to my good friend Ragnar in Sweden I've now got three of the 1st series Tekno VW vans, these are the slightly smaller vans, with disc hubs, and no glazing....

Age wise these were current with the Dinky Trojans / CA etc, but unlike the Dinky there are many more liveries.

Here's a couple of pix of them in the cabinets...

More lovely old Teknos with beautiful colourful liveries. They certainly made plenty of liveries on this casting - I'm guessing you won't be looking to get a complete set of these!

That cabinet display is just superb! :)

What a great collection, thank's for showing a wider picture to show them off to their advantage.

What an amazing selection of fine rarities - beer cases are more often than not missing from those beer trucks but often turn up in boxes of oddments that are non diecast related then sell for £2-3 each when tin!

Cheers all,
At the end of last year I realised I'd bought virtually nothing but Dinky for 10 years, and that my wants list consisted of 400 odd variations of models I already had, in some cases I already had 20! So I decided to have an "anything but Dinky" year, and I have to say I've really had so much pleasure out of getting some different stuff, that I think I'll carry on next year too.

Chris, you have built up a nice collection of the old Teknos! I wish I had a Ragnar too! (Wait a minute, I do! Right, SMS?) :-)

Anyway, the Tekno 'bible' lists only 61 versions of the Type 1 VW... I am sure they missed a few! They are all hard to find in good shape - your decals are in really nice shape! Maybe I need to start looking for them again - I gave up after 1 or 2...

Hi Karl,
They are so nice, I really like your Ford mixer in the other post too. I'm going to get as many as I can of the VW and the Ford van as I can, I'll just see what turns up. Some of the early VW's seem to go for mad money, I'm guessing there's some rare ones out there!

My favorites are the newer FORD Taunus Transit vans.

Maybe because that is what I saw in the toy stores and got as a kid in 1972 in Copenhagen...
