Having a clean.

Post by YYS4BOB »

Having a bit of a clean up so thought these might be of interest while out of the cabinets. All are true preproduction models with casting and moulding differences to production or colour trial models. Most have either incomplete copyright dates and/or missing Y numbers. The Bentleys are entirely plastic, the break down truck has plastic rear body.

Just wondering Bob if the interior,s come out of the prepro Lagonda models that you show in the picture.
I have a body only which I have just added to an unused base(for display) and I noticed it has some differences, mainly the one in the picture and also the front rivet post is thinner(this is hard to see on a standard model.
Thinking maybe the body I have is an early prepro body, I have checked my yellow/pink Lagonda and it has the angled braces.

Jason
The beige body on the Lagonda has no angled braces. The seats/trunk don't come out, but I managed to get enough of a gap under the trunk to have a look. Precedes the pink/yellow version in the time line. The seating component in both of these is without the extra side brace as seen on production models.

Thanks for checking Bob, glad I bought the body casting now. As I thought it was just a standard casting. J

No leave it up. I like the Lagonda and Hispano Suiza prepros. I don't collect these but they are very interesting models!

Bob, can I bother you for some pictures of your earliest Jaguars wheel and tyre combination. Not the skinny 'Cross-Wire' type, the 1973 'Woodgrain' period type.

Tread pattern and a general side view will be fine, thank's.

Try these.

Second preproduction run after base detail added, but no sidelights.

3rd preproduction run, very small sidelights added.

Apologies for out of focus picture

1st production run with small sidelights (bigger than prepro above).

General production model with large sidelights.

The size (or lack) of sidelights is the easiest way to date the jags during the "Woodgrain" and developement period.
