eBay - The Good Side!

We are often quick (with good reason) to share horrible eBay stories e.g. trades gone wrong, postal overcharges, poor packing, etc.
Just wanted to share a positive eBay experience……

Purchased item on Friday evening (NZ time) using BIN from the UK.
Seller posted same day with Track & Trace.
Arrived NZ Wednesday morning.

The packing was excellent

I rarely use BIN but had recently purchased a lovely box and treated myself.

An excellent trade and happy to leave very positive feedback for the seller.

There are still good buys and sellers if you look. I just got an early Lesney green road roller with driver for 40 quid and almost mint. Was sold as a Dinky !

Amazing service from the post and customs who are usually behind the worst problems with ebay buys!

The irony is that I can't think of the last local trade I completed where I received a model from within New Zealand that quickly - even mail within Wellington can be slower than that. Even worse now the mail is only every second day, and no longer even a postal sorting centre in Wellington to serve nearly half a million people...

Sigh.

Very nice Jag though Rodger - a good match for that nice box.

Cheers,
Gavin

Ah! Perhaps not so good a trade as first thought.

Took a closer look at the model and discovered that not wholly original.
Examined more photos under flash and found evidence of touch ups to body work.
Check over wheel arches and along body sill - not really evident in room light but clear with flash highlights.

I have read somewhere that a good way of spotting touching-up is to use a darklight (i.e. a UV light source).

I contacted TUT about a few models he had for sale a while ago and told him that I would be inspecting the models using UV light and if any touch ups were noticed they would be returned immediately. I never did hear back from him, "I Wonder Why"?

I opened a case with eBay for refund due to item not being as described.
The seller contacted me and offered to refund 2/3 of price paid.
Accepted the offer and case closed.

The outcome of this is that I would be concerned about buying again unless I had better photographs and clear description of what I was buying/bidding on.

The only thing a seller has going for them is a reputation of integrity & honesty.

Of which he has neither!
