Mint-ish 44A

Post by Ecclesley »

Got this one yesterday in mint-ish condition.
As far as I detect it is a code 1 with all the trim, smooth inside and small door posts.

Hello Gerrit, you will have noticed from Nick's Guide he has the first 5 models on the list recorded as dark Blue, what I do not know is how dark they are against my dark Blue version which on my listing and picture you have seen, is the 3rd model from the left on the first row.

I have not yet integrated my models into Nick's listing, something I have been trying to do so we have a common list with corrected guide numbers. If you could take more detailed pictures of the inside of the body looking at the top of the 'B' pillar (should not be a small brace), any roof pips and the whole inside area of the doors. Can be tricky getting good pictures, but have a go and see what you get, too dark pictures are not a real problem, but they need to be in focus.

Regards,

The problem of this model's colours is touched on here.

Thank's for the link Hugh.

With such a long production run of this model (1958-64), its not surprising the main body colour would appear in shades and until you have aquired several examples it would be all to easy to just simplify the colours as Dark Blue and Light Blue. Only when the collector has more examples will it become apparent there are colours that could be classed as Steel-Blue.

I have re-posted an old picture of most of my own examples as it does show a range of Blues and I must point out there are no duplicate versions in the picture, some of them can be coded to the 'Nick Code' while others will fall between 'Nick Codes'.
