Has anyone noticed that our leader has been absent? Well i was getting a little concerned, and was just about to phone him when i noticed him log onto the forum earlier, so i sent him a PM.

I am glad to report that he is just fine and he has requested that i provide you lot with a little update.

My understanding is that Nick is currently living on his boat and is relying on a single 25 watt solar cell to power his laptop which does not allow him much time online unfortunately. He has also become a grandad for the tenth time (I am sure he won't mind me telling you that) and has been travelling up to Glasgow on a regular basis which is at least a 400 mile trip from his base on the south east coast of England.

Nick assures me that he has now invested in two 50 watt solar panels and he is hopeful that this will resolve his energy problems and allow him more time on the forum and to be able post more often than he has been.

Be patient though as he still needs to find the time to wire up these new solar panels!!

Congratulations Nick on the arrival of another grandchild and looking forward to your return to the forum proper!!

...yes congratulations Nick on another one to be buying presents for at Birthdays and Christmas time, even less Money for your own models now...

Nick, make sure you look in the boxes of those solar panels for the pocket torches. These are so you can extend the use of your panels at night when the Sun has gone in...!

With all those grandkids no wonder the poor man is hiding on a boat and has no energy ! I have only 3 and they wear me out. Get yourself a hand cranked generator and link it to the laptop then you can wind and browse although some passing might think it strange to see a man in a dimly lit boat glued to a laptop with his hand going around

Hi everyone.
Just an update, I am back from my third visit to Scotland this month. And once again I come back to a boat without electicity, But I have figured that one of the batteries needs replacing so I should have that sorted soon,
My Daughter and new Grandson are doing fine, My Daughter had to have him by caesarian because the baby had his arm over his head and blocking the birth canal,
I never miss an occasion where I can kill the proverbial bird and this time I called in at the Doncaster toyfair on my most recent Scotland trip, Nothing much to report, Got a handful of fairly common superfasts and bumped into fellow forum member Stephen K who we usually see at Brentwood,
Oh and Alex mate, a correction, it is just a 20 watt solar panel not a 25 watt. Thanks goodness it's sunny this afternoon.

Sounds like you're enjoying the heck out of that boat.
Perhaps one of these pedal generators would do the trick

Then find ya one of those bikini clad dockside gals, to do the pedaling.
That should keep ya charged
