Could I suggest that anyone interested in these models also send Jim a PM via the Forum? That way he will be able to tell which enquiries come from genuine collectors and which are from lurkers who are only interested in making a fast buck.

You might make some money off the Dealer model but unlikely to make much off the Dinner models. One of each dinner model just sold on ebay and by the time you figure the fees, there was a loss of five dollars. The Dinner models are already priced to prevent scalping. See auction:

Dealer models are made so that they can be sold off at retail to help defray the cost of your tables and expenses. One expects to see the Dealer models for sale in greater numbers. If the person selling those two dinner models attended the Gathering, they got a nice hedge against their travel expenses. I guess the point I really want to make is since they are being made available to the general public, who are we to decide who is worthy and who is not?

Point taken Joe, but through his post here, is Jim offering them to the general public or to Forum members?

He has the same post on other diecast forums, soooo, I'm going with "general public" as my answer. Oh wait, can I use a lifeline and phone a friend?

...you can use the remaining life-lines if you wish, but you might want to save one for later...

There are many Hotwheels collectors who as Joe stated resell their models to defray costs. I offer them to pay for their dinner or just above and sell at my cost. I usually get a few each year so all who want one can get one. I also get a few for giveayaws as I did on this board. Hopefully all can share the Gathering models.
