Scammell

I leave it to someone else to add what number this is in the 1-75's as not my area.
Photographed at a Steam Rally in Sussex 11/7/15.
Realise I've spelt "Scammell" wrong in the title, but don't know how to change it!

Nice Scammell (answer on my question on MOYBOYZ if you took photos of other vehicles then Steamers)
I think it is nbr 64A in the Matchbox 1-75 range.

Marcel is correct with the number 64 for this model. Bob, if you just click on the 'Edit' button towards the top right corner of your post, you can then edit anything you personally typed including the topic title.

I did try that, and I didn't think it had worked, but I now see the correct spelling is there. Magic has taken place!

For those interested, the Scammell shown by Bob at the top of this thread is termed 6x6 'Explorer' and has a powered front axle which because of the extra weight, the previous ballast weights at the front of the vehicle were not needed. It also has a Meadows 6 cylinder petrol engine of just over 10 Litres, giving a top speed of around 25 mph, 3 mpg and a winching capacity of 15 tonnes.
These trucks were specifically designed as rescue and recovery units for the Army and "THOR" is a 1954 example and one of only 726 built. Here is another picture of her...

Thanks Kevin, As such few were build I wonder if this surviving example was the one used by Lesney Products to make their model?

Thank's Marcel. I note from one of the links it says the engine is a Leyland, this may be a replacement unit, because the Meadows is the standard fitment, instigated by the Army to replace Rolls-Royce engines fitted in the earlier versions of this truck.
