My model Railway interests has taken me into various corners of the collecting World and looking through my pictures of Bachmann catalogues, I found this from the 1970 edition...
The inclusion of models from the 1-75 series 'Regular Wheels' marketed as if they were from Bachmann themselves. I do not know of a tie-up between Lesney and Bachmann, but maybe this was initiated under the same terms as that by 'LIONAL' where a 'Regular Wheel' model was supplied to them for inclusion onto a flat-bed wagon.
It is interesting to note that the #62c Mercury Cougar seems not to have any glazing, or am I also going senile...

Re: With or Without Windows?
Is it a Matchbox Cougar in both of those "Automobile Set"s? Or is the color on the one in set #2 wrong? I think it is a little tough to tell whether there is a plastic window insert or not from these images. Fun sets though! I'd like to have set #1 with that 1956-57 Lincoln Continental.

Re: With or Without Windows?
I am certain those Bachmann sets never contained Matchbox models. It's just that the catalogue pictures show random models from other makers. I think the Cougar is the same model in both pictures and has windows.
The Corvette Sting Ray is a Lindberg Mini-Lindy, the Continental Mk II is from Wiking as is the MAN 415 Shell tanker. The price of the Wiking tanker was probably higher than the complete Bachmann 4-piece set.

Interesting pictures.
I never heared about Bachman-sets with Wiking-models.
The Unimog is made by Wiking too.
Wiking always named the Continental as Ford Continental.
Ghosty would you allow me to make a copy of the catalogue picture to show it in a Wiking-forum.
Perhaps somebody there could say anything about it.
I made a picture with a Wiking Continental and a Chevrolet-Taxi (do not have a Cougar bud size should be nearly the same)
If you compare the size it could be that the Cougar is made by Matchbox.

Re: With or Without Windows?
As the Dodge stake truck is clearly from Matchbox I have no doubt that the Cougar is a Matchbox too.
Which is actually more correct than calling it a Lincoln Continental. The Continental Mk II was built by the separate (in 1956-57) Ford Motor Company division "Continental" and not by Lincoln. So it was a Ford product but not a Lincoln car. Only from the 1958 Continental Mk III it was a Lincoln again (as the prewar Continentals).Malibu wrote:Wiking always named the Continental as Ford Continental.

Hi,
I received a answer according this theme from the Wiking-Forum.
The shown pictures in the Bachmann catalogue where very vague.
This was only a announcement bud was never deliverd in this way.
Bachmann deliverd only N-scale models.
If you search in the net for Bachmann 7011 or 7010 you will find what was deliverd at least.
