Ghosthunter's recent Polistil thread has got me in the mood for Rolls Royces. I rather like this Tomica Dandy Phantom VI. It looks pretty similar to the Dinky Phantom V, although it is not a direct copy. It shares the chunky feel of the Dinky and has the same wide selection of opening parts - bonnet, boot and all four opening doors (of course Dinky got cheap in the 70s and removed some of these features from their later issues).
A big difference is that the Tomica has rear doors which are hinged at the front, rather than the "suicide" doors featured on the Dinky. This reflected a change on the real cars. Early Phantom VIs retained the Phantom V's suicide doors, and I'm not sure what year this was changed, but I have a strong feeling that Ghosthunter will know!
It's not too clear in the photos, but the white paint has a pearlescent finish which I think is great!

This is a very nice solid casting with great fits to the opening parts, I liked mine so much when I saw it on a dealerĀ“s table I bought it fast - in maroon ! Later Dinky models and kits can have flapping or sagging doors although the earliest issues with wing mirrors, foil numberplates , Spot On hubs and figures in the back are much nicer toys than the 1970s versions

The headlights are fine, it's just the way the light is hitting the shiny chrome in the photo.

Here are some Phantom V and Phantom VI details.
Phantom V, design No.980 (and variations), from October 1959 to 1962 (Single Headlamps), like the 'DINKY TOYS' #198.
Phantom V, design No.2003 (and variations), from 1962 to October 1968 (Twin Headlamps), like the 'DINKY TOYS' #152.
Phantom VI, design No.2003/1 (and variations), from October 1968 to 1972 (Twin Headlamps and rear-hinged back doors), like the 'FELDKAMP' #303.
Phantom VI, design No.2003/1 (and variations), from 1972 to 1991 (Twin Headlamps and front-hinged back doors), like the 'TOMICA' #F6.
The post-1962 cars have the twin headlamp design in-line with them being used on the new Silver Cloud III cars.
The post-1968 cars have air-conditioning vents on the scuttle below the windscreen wipers.
From 1972 onwards, safety regulations dictated the use of front-hinged back doors.
For the variations collector, I have recorded these versions of the 1/43rd scale Tomica Rolls-Royce Phantom VI.
1980-1984, Made in Japan First issue, with tinted glazing, bare plastic seats and flat grille slats.
1984-1986, Made in Japan later issue, with clear glazing, 'Flock' covered seats and normal grille slats.
1986 Hong Kong issue with new DJ 06 catalogue number.
Happy collecting!

Mick ("SMS88"), has described a version of the Tomica Phantom VI which matches the First issue but with the clear glazing from the Second issue, suggesting the clear glazing was introduced late on the First issue and I have missed buying that when new, making Mick's a nice transitional model, or a previous owner has swapped the glazing from one model to another, but why! there is no point, I stay with the transitional idea.

What "Fox" can see in those headlamps are the tiny reflections of the darkened room past the edge of the table, the picture was taken in, but it has given the effect of the plastic mouldings have gone missing...
...I agree with "Fred7A" that the headlamps are fine and even in this enlarged section of the picture it is difficult to see the 'Convex' design of the lamp lenses and what looks like holes are not, they are the dark areas in the room.
