OUCH! First things first. In the event of Fire breaking out (which it clearly has), you must call the 'Fire Brigade' and tell them the vehicle is physically on Fire. You must keep everybody standing well back because of fuel tanks or tyres could explode. You must not attempt to put the Fire out yourself unless you have had proper Fire Fighting training. You must now check to see if any of your passengers or yourself have been seriously hurt or ingured and if yes, call for an Ambulance. Drink plenty of fluids like Water if you have any and you can take some 'Paracetamol' for any Headaches but tell the Ambulance crew this if you have called them.
Right, once that has all been taken care of and you feel OK, just a bit shaken up, you can call your Insurance company to arrange a Recovery truck to come out and attend to the car, sadly I am not on shift at the moment and will only get your rescue job if it turns into an emergency job, where the General public is in danger, but it looks as if that will not happen in this instance.
When this is all sorted out a couple of Months later, you could try buying the car back from the Insurance company and set about restoring it, but in my experience once it has been on Fire, it is not worth persuing as the steel body will not be the same and is likely to be out of shape through heat distortion.
There are several Citroen car clubs that would have members willing to sell you another 'DS' and it will be fun for you transforming it into a rally car similar to the one you have just had to say goodbye too.
Good luck and let us see the new car when you have it.
Ghosty.
