Tomorrow (saturday june 13th) there is the yearly 3 inch meeting of the Dutch 3 inch club.
The big event will be in Hoogstraten Belgium.

There will be a race to win !

This is a picture of the test rig of the trail.

I have opened my own original more then 40 old cases full of MATCHBOX racemonsters for tomorrow's race !

Now which one to choose from the all metal bases monsters for the battle tomorrow?
Which car would you suggest as I can only enter one car into the race?

I considered the Hairy Hustler as it is very heavy and this may be an advantage.
I just did some test and as these are all original models from my yought not all are super mint.
The Ford Group 6 from 1969 rusns better so best to put that one into the race tomorrow.
1969 is a good year !

I can only tell you tomorrow as I do not know !
For me it is most important that a MATCHBOX car will win.
A lot of the 3 inch members will enter Hotwheel models into the race.

In that case I would use a model with the Narrow wheels if you have one in those cases. This gives less friction between the wheel, axle and the surface the track.

Some of the Wider wheels were designed with a very narrow ridge around the surface of the wheel which was designed for a very low contact between the wheel and surface, but the inner contact area around the axle is larger than a Narrow wheel, so defeats the idea, use a Narrow wheeled car that is in good condition, not one with well used wheels as they will have a bit (or a lot), sloppier fit onto the axles.

Good luck.

Good luck tomorrow, Marcel. As much as I love the Matchbox models, I am afraid that it will be tough to beat a Hot Wheels car. They may not look as great, but darn, they do roll!
