The Ron Burgess Collection - Vectis 09/06/15

I'm sure a few of you were bidding in, or watching with interest, today's Vectis Superfast sale. I thought there'd be some pre-match analysis to enjoy on here but alas, all was quiet.
I haven't fully reviewed the sale but from the snippets I saw, there were plenty of unsold items, together with a few humdingers that no doubt softened the blow for Mr Burgess.
I've got very narrow vision when it comes to Superfast, so my highlights are all harvested from the 'golden' period of 1969 to 1971.
First up is this little beauty: -
I didn't catch the sale price, but I suspect it exceeded the estimate of £500-£600. I would have loved to have added it to my collection but unfortunately, social services insist that I feed my children.
High on my wants list was this regular wheel crossover piece: -
Alas, I bowed out of the bidding long before it headed skyward to £750 plus buyer's premium!
Error pieces aren't really my thing, but this second kennel truck is noteworthy for its £900 hammer price: -
After years of commanding high prices, it would appear that oversupply has finally caught up with the NAMC promotional tankers, with the most sought after red and white model failing to attract a bid at its reserve of £600. I've seen these go for over £1,000 previously so the bubble has certainly burst.
The same can't be said of this enamel green Ford Group 6: -
£2,300 could buy you a full-size Porsche!
At £320, this Pony Trailer didn't fetch as much as I would have expected for an early 'pre-production': -
Forget stocks and shares, at £1,300 this Formula 1 Racer returned a healthy 50% return on its purchase price from the Rob Freeman sale 3 years ago: -
And finally, a model that's at odds with my opinion that 'thin wheels are the best': -
Still, with a sale price of £520, it's certainly no ugly duckling.
So, those are the models that jumped out at me. Did anyone else bid on anything or notice any eyebrow raisers?
