I just noticed that some of the newly released models have the same number on the blister packs. I am not sure if this is an error. The models are:
#44/120 Drill Digger (yellow) and #44/120 Sowing machine (red/cream)
#107/120 Dune Dog (orangey red) and #107/120 Frost Fighter (orange)

I am not sure why they have done this, but if you look on the base of the 'Frost Fighter', it has it's own catalogue number...MB 847. I do know this is available as the same casting but in different colours with alternative 'Tampo' designs, maybe this has something to do with the overall numbering system for this range.

I think their following the hot wheels idea
they have different ranges and there is a total number of models in the range this is the second number , the first number represents the models position within the range
i.e the drill digger is #44 in a range of 120
as is the sowing machine but from a different range
hope that makes sense

You are correct - the 'Frost Fighter' catalog number is #847. I just cannot understand why things have to be complicated after decades of matchbox production now it seems we are re-inventing the wheel. This is going to make it really hard to keep track. I am still missing #70 and #99 from last year's run.

You think it is bad, I have been busy sorting out a list of the errors known to date.

On US long card we currently have 4 duplicate numbers....

MB7 is both Runway Wrangler and Tesla Model S.
MB29 is both 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 and Quarry King.
MB44 is both Sowing Machine and Drill Digger.
MB107 is both Dune Dog and Frost Fighter.

On ROW short card, (at least) 13 models have been released with different numbers to where they are on US long card....

MB25 Rain Maker is MB24 on short card.
MB26 Mountain Mover is MB25 on short card.
MB29 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 is MB28 on short card.
MB44 Sowing Machine is MB42 on short card.
MB69 International WorkStar Brush Fire Truck is MB74 on short card.
MB74 Blockade Buster is MB70 on short card.
MB87 Snow Ripper is MB85 on short card.
MB88 Chevy K-1500 4x4 is MB112 on short card.
MB98 Terrain Trouncer is MB93 on short card.
MB101 Land Rover Defender 110 is MB96 on short card.
MB102 Jeep Wrangler Superlift is MB97 on short card.
MB107 Dune Dog is MB99 on short card.
MB113 Ford Bronco 4x4 is MB103 on short card.

You may note that some of these are one from each of the pairs (apart from MB7) of duplicated US numbers, so it could be that the ROW range is sporting correct numbers. But this means that most of the early US batches this year are wrong. THis could be a huge mess up with Mattel and US long card numbers.

Thank you David for posting the above information, it is a mess that seems to stem from the Days when there was a 'Core' range set of numbers and then 'ROW' range numbers and as soon as models are borrowed from one t'other, a model is technically the owner of Two catalogue numbers, totally mad...

I can add that now that we have finally received some 2015 models here in Austria (having to wait more than six months after a year's start for the first of the same year's models to be released is surely a new record), it appears that the same applies to MB7 too, for the Runway Wrangler is MB6 on the short card as issued over here.

To me this is just a case of ROW numbers being different from US numbers, like it was for many years in the past. I record the numbers on the packaging as they are, simply accepting the duplicates. As the actual cataloguing is done by MAN numbers anyway, it does not matter much to me. Certainly nothing to get angry or excited about!

Just bought these Torque Titans, the green was made in 2014, the orange in 2015. Just look the number of the orange! Congrats Mattel!!!!!!!!!
