Matchbox USA convention again.....

Post by kay »

Hi all,

I finally decided to go to Charlie Mack's Matchbox USA convention next month - so now I wonder if any VBDF members will be getting there as well.
I suppose I will be meeting caveman "kwakers" at least....
Anyone else??

This is great news Kay, while you are enjoying the event, maybe mention the forum a few times in discreet conversation... and mention to Charlie we would like a real expert on board to help us out on some model queries (don't tell him we actually have our own experts, its just a ruse to get him here... :D ), and please do show "Kwakers" what a modern Camera looks like and how to press the buttons on it...

Take care Kay and bring back some pictures for us, cheers.

I'm beginning to worry about Dick, he's been quiet for too long.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

The last pm i had from Dick was March 19th. I had agreed go buy an RW#41a from him. I PM'd him back to get payment arranged but have heard nothing since. I put it down to Dick living in the 13th Century with technology etc but now i am genuinely concerned. Hope all is welll Dick.

Similar story here, I was arranging something with Dick at the end of March and I didn't hear back. It is worrying, hope you're ok Dick.

Does this mean you will not be at JimG's Gathering?

Joe,
I will be coming to the Gathering, too!
I already registered and booked the trip in January this year.
The trip to the Gathering in July (and my three week vacation around it) is a must for me every year - and all the bosses in my company know about my addiction, so I never have to bag for the vacation time!

But I also wanted to go to one of Charlie's conventions in the past, and I always wanted to see his collection!
For several reasons I never managed to go there- and when I finally was ready to go, he announced that there's not going to be a further MB USA convention (I think that was back in 2011).
So this year everything fits, and I'm going to do it - it is just a one week trip, maybe it's a little bit crazy......
After the show I have three more days for a little CT, RI and MA sightseeing tour.

Ghosty,
For sure I will do this, as there is no better place to hang around for Matchbox collectors than the VBDF!
Charlie does not seem to be very active in the Internet at all - he just announced his convention one time in a very few forums last year, and that was it!
But maybe some others from MB USA will jump on the VBDF bandwagon......

Hmmm, that is quite a heavy task - so I can't promiss any success!
I guess he needs a full automatic camera with just ONE button to press - this sounds like a NASA project!

Yes, I promise to take a couple of pictures during the event.
But I'm not sure if Charlie lets people take pictures from his collection. I think not - otherwise we would have seen some of them in one of the forums in past years already....
