Re: Casting #53
A handsome and rather complete lineup as always George. The only thing I've got to help add to your diversity would be a red 53a Aston Martin with GPW.

Some 53s:
I have a real 220SE (twin to Dinky 186), so I have a few of these
Sun fade on a loose model:
I bought only one RW this year, I finally got one of these, gpw doesn't seem easy to find:

Thank you for posting the photo of your GPW Aston Martin.
Are the wheels smaller diameter than typical or is it just an optical illusion?
Thank you
Kurt
Happy hunting!

Sorry Kurt, to not reply more promptly!
Your eyes are keen my friend. This is one of those odd factory error models that has 9x20 gray plastic wheels on the car's right side:
And 10x24 on the left side:

When Greg presented this model previously it became one of my all time interesting and educational threads on the forum.
On a light hearted note……
I remember thinking at the time if you imagine the camber of roads comparing left hand versus right hand drive your 53a Aston Martin with the small wheels on the right would be much more suited to driving on Australian roads and staying nice and level.
A wonderful an interesting error and one of the classiest.

Re: Casting #53
Rather like the two sub-species of Welsh mountain sheep: one has longer legs on the left-hand side than on the right and so is only able to walk around mountains in a clockwise direction (when seen from above), whereas the other has longer legs on the right-hand side than on the left and so is only able to walk around mountains in an anti-clockwise direction. Fortunately, since they face in different directions, the two sub-species cannot interbreed since the result would inevitably be a sheep with four legs of equal length, meaning that it would immediately fall over, there being nowhere flat enough in Wales for it to be able to stand up.yellowfoden wrote:I remember thinking at the time if you imagine the camber of roads comparing left hand versus right hand drive your 53a Aston Martin with the small wheels on the right would be much more suited to driving on Australian roads and staying nice and level.

What a great piece, as always.
The 53a in metalic red has always been a favorite of mine.
Happy hunting!
