45b Ford Corsair
45b Ford Corsair
The NAMC’s “Catalog of all Series Matchbox Models” (second edition) has variation 45-2B (BPW, unpainted base) noted as having two shades of what is described as pale greenish-white. The painted base variations (equivalent to Nick's code 1) are 45-2C (pale greenish-white) and 45-2D (off-white).
The AIM “1-75 Series Regular Wheels” catalogue (second printing, 1983), Houghton, and Stannard do not list any models not already covered by Nick.
U.K. Matchbox did not examine the model.
We did briefly visit this model in another thread (which I am now unable to find), and someone posted a photograph very clearly showing two different body colours (presumably the NAMC's greenish-white and off-white). We therefore need to determine which of Nick's codes occur in which colour(s), although the shades highlighted by NAMC may cloud the issue.
It should also be noted that Nick is still looking for evidence of a short run without the interior.
ADDENDUM: Lesney Link no. 6 (Dec. 86) p162 states that a “very, very pale body colour – almost cream – and not a sun fade…” has been found. This cannot be the model listed in the NAMC Catalogue since that is copyright 1971, suggesting the confirmed existence of a very, very pale/off white variation.

Re: 45b Ford Corsair
Thank you, George, that certainly helps, but it's not the photograph I was thinking off (which was of two models only and posted last year).kerbside wrote:Here we are Hugh, I posted this photo of colours in my Casting Show.
The Greenish coloured model is the 1st issue with the Silver/Grey base plate, also the roof rack and the boat are a much lighter Green, it also is with-out any Silver trim on it.

Re: 45b Ford Corsair
I have perhaps three shades (very hard to find the right description of the shades). The first and second one are very similar to the George´s models. But I have the pale greenish-white variation on the models with BPW and GPW also. In my opinion, the pale yellow-white variation is more rare.
a) pale greenish-white
b) pale yellow-white
c) pale yellow-cream

Re: 45b Ford Corsair
Forum member StevieK had one of the green Corsairs for sale at the last Brentwood toyfair, I'm sure these are a very short run because I noticed it straight away and I don't think I had seen one before.

Perhaps I had good luck and I was in the shop just when there was a delivery of the pale greenish models (on the left side). Anyway I have overlook yesterday that most of the greenish models have BPW ø9x36 and unpainted base plate, I have no greenish model with GPW . I must change my opinion, greenish models are more rare.
