24b team matchbox light green (lime)

Post by artherfonz »

Hi all,
After comparing two of the green models it appears as though one is more of a lime colour,to the eye the colours are clearly different, colour is consistent over model,Christians site has a dark and light metallic green but not with the same decals,i only have the two green models , and as we know each monitor shows things slightly different.is this a common model? cheers steven

Hello Steven

The dark green with No. 8 is the rarer variant and has mostly the darker shade.

Nice model Steven! I am inclined to think the light green is fairly uncommon and you have an interesting one. I have seen a very dark green shade of these but never one so light. In the photo, it looks to be the same color as perhaps the first issues of the 13B Baja Buggy or later issues of the 45A Ford Group 6? Maybe you have examples of these models you could photo with this one for comparision with the color shade? If it matches up, I think you have quite an odd piece there.

Excellent photo, the colours look true with the darker one being the version I have seen before and the lighter one looks like the shade better known on the #45 Ford Group 6. This light one has gold primer under the green candy coat - does the dark one or is that a silver chip clearly visible in the photo? Possible that a small batch of these bodies were painted with either some #9 Javelins or #45 Group 6 . Certainly no fading involved and it looks totally factory original - nice find :)

Thanks for the comparison pictures. It seems to be a similar lime green shade to the #13 Buggy and #52 Charger but slightly darker to my eye. The light green #24 you pictured seems to have a gold undercoat and I wonder if this may be responsible for the slightly darker look. The topcoat may be the same paint. Or, some of the later issue green #52 chargers were painted in a slightly darker lime shade and this may match up better to the exact color of the light #24.

The 9B Javelin appears darker yet, but that is the later issue with 5 arch wheels that have darker paint. If you find one with 5 spoke wheels it will likely be a lighter shade of lime green.

Regardless, they are a nice looking pair and the most contrasting green color difference I have seen on this model.
