36b Lambretta Scooter and Sidecar

I have found a 36b Lambretta painted 2 different shades of green.
The bike is light metallic green and the sidecar is dark metallic green.
It has 9x24 bpw and no recess on the baseplate.
I consider it an error piece.
Is it uncommon to find?

The motorcycle and the base for the cycle and side car is one casting. The actual side car is a second casting. The two castings were painted separate of each other and then stored in bins for assembly. As with so many other castings, parts that were painted in different batches were assembled to create a complete model and the result can be different shades of a specific color on one model (with multiple painted parts).

It's not intentional that they be different shades, but it happened quite often. It's more of a negative variation than anything else. Some collectors seek out these variations and others prefer to have more perfect models and shy away from such combinations. It would only command a slightly premium price for someone in the first category of collectors and in general commands the same price as a more normal model in similar condition. It is rare ... no. You can find all manner of shade differences between the two because the model itself boasts many different shades of a similar green.

Firstly, Welcome to the forum Davide, hope you enjoy the articles and topics, there is some hints and tips on re-sizing pictures here...viewtopic.php?f=5&t=21#p117

Secondly, I agree with the description given by "Tinman" and just want to add, that it is common with any mass produced commercially available toy or model and the example below hopefully can be seen on your screen, it shows a 'MINI-DINKY' MGB with a darker shade bonnet against the rest of the body.

What a brilliant model! They've even managed to replicate the British Leyland shut-lines around the bonnet!
