A trip to the "Dark Side"

Well, after several years of avoiding the inevitable I have jumped off the cliff and landed on my head. This is my initial start into the Superfast side of Matchbox. I don't plan on pursuing anything other than the transitional models. Hopefully some of you can direct me in the right direction so I don't make too many mistakes. Hope you enjoy the photo of my newest additions. Missing #8 which I am currently working on finding.

Hello John it took me awhile to get into the 1st issue Superfast models, now we do have a bone of contention on the transitional models
my way of thinking is that a true transitional model is when is the same colour as the Regular wheel with the base changed to Superfast. Thou other collectors see it differently, so I had to just collect all the 1st issues, and even with these some are hard to find even if you have the money.
But good for you and enjoy the hunt, and you can get to many Toy Fairs.

Great start John. if i could suggest going for some of the transitional models and there associated early type F boxes. I particularly like the red script type F boxes.

George, my first thought was to just go with G type boxes as it looks like all of the models were available in the G boxes. Are the F boxes harder to find? Were all the models available in a F box? I am assuming then that the F box is more of the "true" transitional box?
Love some of the color variations on the SF models. The #22 in the deep purple is stunning. Can you imagine what Lesney could have done with today's colors in the early years. We would all have gone insane!

Hydra, what a nice start to the World of Superfast and going for really good condition examples with their boxes is nice and something more of us wish we could achieve, thanks for showing them...
(I look foreward to when you add the Rolls-Royce models... ).

...and George, well, I would not have expected anything less than a substantial collection from you! A fabulous display and something to be very proud of.

Thank you for the comments gentlemen
Alex the 22a sf only came in the "G" box.
Well John the Red word print on the "F" box is always hard to find, as they only came on six boxes, here are the six boxes.
When I got all the normal "F" boxes I decided to get all the "G" boxes but to do that I had to get a few of 2nd issues, now that I have completed the "F" and "G" boxes I will go no further into Superfast, just continue to look for variations.
Just collecting the 1st issue Superfast seem never ending, but the hunt is great, god luck in your hunt John.

Mmmmnnnn George, do you seriuosly consider the #16 Badger a Transitional model? To me it looks so out of place on that wonderful display.
