And then there were three

Post by RVREVO »

Hi Everyone, long time no see.

been trying very hard not to add anything new.
Then saw an opportunity of getting another Dinky 25K fire engine with firemen.
ladder was broken which to me is no biggie as had already bought a wreck very cheap of another 25k missing the firemen.
as that one was beyond repair replacing the ladder on the good one seemed the better option.
who would know? only us ofcourse, my friends online in this forum, possibly beyond.

Why would anyone remove and wreck such a rare model?
Well, never mind. Plenty of parts now.

Hello Richard, nice to have you back and enjoying your models the way you want to. Minor restoration such as that what you have done is fine by me and would not stop me buying such a model, so carry on doing what you know best and yes, nobody else will know, just the few forum members that will read this...

thanks Ghosty,

might say that obviously the ladder was changed as its a darker red to the sun faded body.

Anyway, have 4x pre-war 1936-37 baseless 25H

the first one on the rear left heavily fatigued. next one painted in army drab, next a broken back and the front one repainted.

The next few are pre-war 25H 1937-41 in various stages. front left is the only one with a tinplate base. The rest in various condition good to rear axle gone. bodies are generally good.

You are building them up into a nice collection and presumably they are not costing too much (or maybe they are and you are a secret Millionair... ), and being able to swap a few components is no bad thing, yes colour shades may be of some concern, but at your present rate of aquiring these models, it won't be that long until another ladder of the right shade will come along and you can do another swap, thanks for showing them Richard.

Nice one!
I love these Pre War 25 Fire Engines, I've only got the one, sadly no firemen though.
No issues with swopping bits here, long as they're original parts, I wouldn't have much of a Pre War 33r Mechancal Horse collection without swopping cabs and trailers around, and I was very lucky to buy a box of Pre War axles hubs and tyres, some of which now sit under at least two of my 28 Series Vans that had lost theirs.

To be fair I think it started life as a box of models and this is all that was left :D
