Hi mike, does the black paint inside the roof look ok, it should only be in the rivet.
Also a base picture would be good. j

Good question! I think the areas which look like they could be black paint around the rivet are scuff marks made during assembly. If so, then I'm happy with the bodyshell. However, we need a photograph of the underside in order to make a value judgement regarding the authenticity of this body/baseplate combination (which, although unlikely, is plausible in terms of stockroom emptying towards the end of the model's life).

Hello Hugh.
A photo of the bottom plate.

I make more accurate pictures of the rivet.

Thanks and Regards Mike

Hello Jason.
More detailed images of the rivet.
Photos from both sides.

I'm not sure about that roof rivet, Mike. The flaring looks a bit shallow for my liking, especially so given the out-of-timeline base. It the pole clip tight on the roof, or is there some movement?

Hi Hugh.
The pole is tight.
The oblique rivets, also in red pole seen.
I think that often occurs in this Roof rivet.

Rivet does look ok comparing to your red one Mike, now you just need to confirm the base of the model.
Is the base tight , compare to one of your others where the model is pressed over to hold the base.

Since paint is missing on the important portion of the spread rivet, it matters not if the base is tight or loose. There is no way to prove or disprove tampering and switching of the base.

The poles look ok to me with the exception that I don't see any black paint on the underside. If some black paint is present, then it's possibly real. Then again, it's really easy to remove an original set of poles, and to strip the red paint, paint the poles black and reinstall them on the bus.

In fact, it so easy to fake the black pole variant that if you can't get a real good history of the model (all the way back to the place of purchase when new), from someone you trust ... don't pay any extra for the black pole variant than you would an average mint red pole variant.

You took the words right out of my mouth, Jason!
