i picked up this vw van a little while ago , i have never seen a jersey model before & can not find an other on ebay or by looking on the web ,
it came in an early hard plastic box , but would i be correct in saying it has later type wheels ?? ,
the majorette vw van has always been a model i liked & i have seen some of the promotion model go for high prices ,
it looks like a decal has been put over a cafe haig van ..

I love it!! Never seen one before, those wheels look similiar to the Porsche Fuch wheels (911 style) which often find themselves on custom busses (including mine someday I hope). Thanks for posting.

I don't know of that variation but suspect it was done privately for a gift shop to promote what we can see on the side of the Van and it looks to have originally been the 'Cafe Hag' version .

Funny variation of Majorette van n°226 (produced from 1973 to 81), with "Jersey" labels put over Café Hag inscription indeed. Concerning wheel hubs, three patterns have been introduced in 1973 along with low friction wheels. From top to bottom : New type, Nuclear or flower type, star type. Star type is most often seen on this casting. Variations shown here are from 1976, 1981 and 1978.

Majorette kinda have their own transitionals, since there are castings you will find with either pre-1973 high friction wheels or fancy fast wheels with New / Nuclear / Star pattern on hubs.
Below is Citroën SM n°250 (produced from january 1971 to late 1978), fitted with 1971 "5 black spoke" hubs / 1972 "5 chrome spoke" hubs / 1973 to 78 low friction star type wheels.

3 very nice SMs that do show the evolution of wheel types well. This nuclear star pattern didnt last long - early versions of the rally Dyanne seem to be the newest casting fitted with them which means that they were out of production circa 1976 whereas the other 2 patterns appeared in 1974 and lasted well into the 1980s

I do like that one, really good model of the VW Van, lots of campers around, not enough vans.
I've had a few Majorettes over the years, in the 70's I thought they were much better than MB Superfast which had got a bit wild for me.
(Just don't tell them over in the Superfast area, it's safe here they'll never look in European Diecast!

as a kid growing up in the late 70s - early 80s majorette came a close 2nd to matchbox models ,
the vw van & ford capri being a favourite of mine , i think the majorette vw van being the best small scale version ,
they only sold them in local newspaper shops & i could never find them being sold in larger shops like woolworths or john menzies ,
what would happen with a model like this jersey vw , would majorette attach the labels & then send them to jersey tourist board or would they just send them a load of blank red vans to put on the labels themself ,
it did come in the hard plastic box that majorette models where sold in around the late 70s ,
oh and thanks to mr ghosthunter for the advise on making the photos smaller for placing on this site ..
