so that one mustang with the new modified body with the short vents and older base with pat pend and no tow guide...is this the one that really hard to find...im updating with i search when i look for specific items

Hi Dan, I have upgraded a few times on this one looking at my notes. Could just be a distribution issue again on this one. J

From my experience Dan, all of these white Mustang variations are pretty easy to find, with the flat black base being common to find and also not worth any premium. In checking Nick's listings over this morning, I did see that it includes a white interior variation at the end of the regular wheel white body production. I have never heard of this model before, so I cannot say I have any faith in that one ever being sold out of stores as a toy. If those white interiors were available later in the regular wheel era, I would have also expected a quantity of the last orange-red Mustangs to be found with them.
If anyone can show us their regular wheeled white body #8 Mustang with white interior, I am very interested in seeing one. Because the white interiors became available later for the Superfast models, were these interiors available in the prototype shops in 1971 to make this rare white bodied regular wheel Mustang during it's 'late' wheel changeover? Were the regular wheel and Superfast interiors done using the same exact molds??
I would have faith in a white interior variation if it had all the early casting details of the November 1966 releases. That white interior would make that model a pre-production example which would be typical of a factory produced color trial model. Nick has a picture of a possibly unique pre-production yellow Mustang with a white interior in it at his web site. What a dream model that one is......kwakers

youre proly right Jason...we know how that goes...ive spotted a couple of these at auction for this week...so if cheap enough ill pick one up

Hi Dick.
The Mustang pictured on the website is a pre pro, Although I did not know it at the time the baseplate was different from the normal issue, It is not yellow but orange and a fair match for the coca cola truck, It had an ivory interior and solid BPW opposed to hubs and tyres.
I also handled another white or ivory interiored rw Mustang that was part of the Thomas collection, It was painted white and was fitted with wire wheels.
