The way I collect the #37 Coke truck is to show them as A-B-C as 37a has an uneven crate load, and an open base.
Then it was issued with an even crate load, but still with an open base to me that is 37b.
Then the model had a Black closed in base to me that is 37c. Making the Cattle Truck 37d.

37a-b Karrier Bantam 2 Ton, issued 1957, length 57mm, box types B and C.
37c (b) Karrier Bantam 2 Ton, issued 1960, length 57mm, box types C and D.
37d (c) Cattle Truck, issued 1966, length 66mm, box types E and F.

Great Job as usual George on these models. I also have 5 distinct rear box colors on the Cattle Truck that we found in our local stores when they were brand new. I like your picture here of those colors, but you are missing one with a darker brownish colored box that came without the front tow guide on it.
I believe both Mike and Brad (with his huge fleet of Cattle Trucks), each show a darker brownish example, unless of course the other sides of them do not match the ones seen here and are faded. Great models guys, Thanks for showing them. kwakers

For me, it was very sad to see this great casting with bright colors and sharp decals replaced with a dull boring dodge truck with an even more dull colored plastic rear section. The cattle truck was one of the many cuts that lead to the death of a thousand cuts that ended my Matchbox collecting with the passing regular wheels at the close of 1969.

Hello Dick, (kwakers) I am now wary about bidding on colour shades, as here are three photos of the same model but taken in different lighting. So to get a really Dark Brown I would have to have it in the hand.

I see exactly what you mean here George, I will check my spares for a darker brown rear box model for your collection. They are much more brown then they are gray, so easier to spot than just various shades of the stock gray boxes on these Trucks as in your interesting lighting pictures. How very odd that your same box can be seen so differently with just a change in lighting. Thanks for showing these pictures as well. kwakers

I'm glad you (and others) do.

But it's no secret that I lose serious interest in most castings after 1965.
