Those Scammell Recovery trucks are amazing! Can somebody tell me what years those were produced? I assume they were all military.

Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob.
Most of the Scammell's were built as tank transporters and tank recovery vehicles during world war 2. When they were no longer needed by the military they were sold to heavy haulage companies for civilian use. Scammell built their first heavy haulage vehicle in 1929 the '100 tonner' for transporting railway engines to Liverpool docks which was modeled by Lesney in the Models of Yesteryear range http://www.vintagebritishdiecasts.co.uk ... /y16-5.htm
Lesney also modeled the breakdown recovery truck http://www.vintagebritishdiecasts.co.uk ... /xx64a.htm
The Mechanical horse http://www.vintagebritishdiecasts.co.uk ... /xx10a.htm
The Scammell snowplough http://www.vintagebritishdiecasts.co.uk/1index/xhtmx16c.
And of course the wonderful Pickfords 200 ton transporter http://www.vintagebritishdiecasts.co.uk ... ckford.htm

Thanks Nick for the information on these trucks. The Breakdown trucks and the Constructors are my favorites!
