a couple utility trucks

Post by ford_a_30 »

Found these two with different logos and in the limited boxes so even though I don't do much in the newer stuff, I figured I should grab them up. Can anybody tell me anything about them?

They look like they are Color Comp promotional models.

I can only tell you that National Grid is the name of our upstate N.Y. power company that I believe is owned by a British concern. Con Edison served parts of downstate N.Y. and N.J. years ago, but I cannot read the fine print on that truck's door to see much other than just the Edison part of that logo. Did you find these online or way out in your area Chris? The nose design seems to be based on a heavy Ford chassis from several years ago, unless they have just been purposely modeled as a random no-brand truck by Lesney's designers. Large Ford Trucks are now all sold as Sterling trucks here in the U.S. I believe. That is unless Ford has changed corporate policy once again on us here in the U.S. The wheels are not very realistic, the all-white color is accurate, but not much to induce sales to 'kids', but they are a pretty neat truck if they continue to customize them to all our local power companies over here.......kwakers

Dick,
Found them both in a booth at the local toy mall. They were the only thing I got this trip. Boxes are dated 2002, for whatever that's worth. They are marked "utility truck" but clearly are Fords.

I found this version in actual issue colors:

I'm going to go ahead and say Code 2 issues, meaning they were produced by someone else, most likely Color Comp or ASAP. Being all-white is a big give-away as for being a Code 2.
