Hi

I have decided to sell my childhood collection and could do with some advice . I have already sold a few Dinky cars on ebay but the majority of my vehicles are Lesney Matchbox of which i have around 40 . I have little idea of the value of these toys so could do with some advice on Value (or a site where i could do some research ) and is there an alternative way to sell other than ebay or selling to a collector as a batch lot.

I am not looking for or expect to make a fortune as all the toys are play worn and i my 9 self probably dumped the box before i got on the bus home form the shops, but I don't want to sell a rare gem on ebay for 99p either !

I have a excel list of the models with numbers and could fairly easily get them on a webpage with photos would that help ?

you will never sell a rare gem on Ebay for 99p rest assured. If you leave it on for long enough and it is rare most collectors would be over it like a rash. You can post photos here with prices attached so collectors on the site could buy them and easy to find out values on ebay for a comparable model. if badly chipped and play worn with no box then the value will be very low.

Yes, if models are correctly listed on ebay they should do ok but perhaps it would help if you could upload a group photo here initially, from that members will be able to spot an obvious gem or ask you for more details about particular models that may be a gem in hiding! and advise accordingly. When posting a message here, if you scroll down a little you will see a small "Upload Attachment" tab where you can attach a photo from your computer or a site like photobucket to the message. Are you sure you want to sell your childhood collection, because once it's gone it's gone

JB is right Dabber. Post some images here and we will keep you right.

I think it's the right decision to sell they been sat in loft for year's. Any money raised will go toward my adult hobby of motorcycle trials building a old trials bike at the moment so will be getting enjoyment out the cars in a round about way.

As suggested i have posted two photos of the collection there may be more yet to add as i think there are Tractors and farm implements in the loft still but they will be Corgi or Britton i guess.

You do have a few desirable pieces which would be worth selling separately, The two larger trucks in the top picture the "Davies Tyres" and the "Car Collection".
In the lower picture the green Cadillac and the red & grey Commer pick up, Also the metallic lilac & orange Zodiac and the blue Jaguar but the conditions are not great so don't expect to get rich off of them.

Do I see some turquoise paint underneath the repaint on the bottom half of that 22B cresta? if the lower half is original and turquoise, that color combination is quite uncommon.

Yes there is turquoise under the blue but pretty badly chipped.

Well spotted the composer10, I thought it was just the common pink version.
Welcome to the forum both of you.

Pink over Turquoise is rather rarer than just "uncommon". Even the plain pink with windows is not easy to find. Shame about the blue overpaint regardless of what's underneath.
