I recently decided to catalogue my collection of some 250 models of yesterday that I purchased back during the 1960/70/80’s. Amongst them is a Y7 Talbot Eveready Van in its normal colour of blue, but I also bought at the same time off the same dealer the same model in black and yellow. As in the Dunlop colours. On close examination the model look’s to be 100% authentic but I can’t find any record of it anywhere. Any ideas anybody?
Would have posted image but my first posting and did not find away of doing so.

Re: Y7 Talbot Everready van in black and yellow
Hi Graham, welcome to the forum. I don't know anything about YY but there are some expert collectors here who I'm sure can help you. Have you had a look at http://www.matchboxmemories.com/ because there are lots of Talbot vans pictured (Y5's not Y7's) including one with Dunlop livery. Is it anything like yours?
(Just realised, could this thread be moved to the YY section please?)

what you have is most likely a 'Friday lunchtime special' - made at the factory by the employees to get extra cash, basically a stolen model if the case or made by someone with access to the decals and then added later. They were sold off a s prepro models at a higher price than normal models but why would Lesney add labels from a previously issued model onto one that came out far later ! Value about a couple of quid in my book as an oddity.

I would agree with Moyboy, A lunchbox special. Except that it would fetch more than a couple of quid on ebay

Need I say more? This is only a few of the vans that can be found with these decals on. Some even come with them on the roof as well.
Other colours include red, green, maroon with grey roof, black with silver painted roof. The other van that suffered badly from this was the Y12 Captain Morgan. These labels appeared on every colour of Model T van. Rolls of them were stolen from the factory. I was once offered a roll of 50 labels at a toy fair in the mid '80's.
All the above can be found by searching past Vectis Auctions. They sell for silly money in certain markets, and I fail to understand why. No more value than a standard model, and wouldn't have one in my collection, but each to their own.

Hi,
Thank's for all the reply's. I've come to the conclusion, as with most of you, that it is a lunch box special. What to do with it?
Thanks again
