Superfast experts

Post by Bob/Ohio »

These are the only Superfast cars in my collection. Other than the Mustang, is there anything else that is "special" or a possible "variant"? I am not very familiar with the Superfast line.

Lime green Kennel Truck is a tough one to find.

You have some nice SF's there Bob, the #8 Mustang being the star.

Can you check the base of the #33 Lambo for a tow guide. If it has one then this is very hard to find. As Tim says the #50 Kennel truck is very sought after and is a nice variation with the white base. Ghosty will love the #69 Roller and i need you to show us the colour of the baseplate as some are rarer than others. The #75 Berlinetta looks in great condition and is one of my personal favourites. The metalic green variation of the #75 is the rarest of the superfast Berlinattas and worth looking out for. I also like the #73 Mercury Commuter and i note that yours is the filler cap variation with the square cut rear wheel arches, more commonly found with rounded arches.

I could go on but all in a very nice collection mate.

Motorman,
In answer to your requests, #33 has no tow guide, #69 has a gloss black base. For future reference, the #32 Maserati has a lime green base. The #8 Pantera has no labels, which I thought was strange, and by the gloss on the paint, it looks like it never did. Here is another picture with a different view.

Bob, The #69 roller is found quite often with a black baseplate, this does not particularly lower its value in anyway as these rollers are very collectable.

I noticed the #8 had no label, i also note that the baseplate is unpainted which is harder to find. I would think it probably started it's life with the bonnet label to be honest. The #32 Maserati is normally found with the green base. I have seen one with an unpainted base before but these are rare.

Are you planning to add to your Superfast collection Bob and do you have any boxes for any of these models you have shown us as a lot of value is placed on certain box variations aswell?

Hello Bob/Ohio (I take it you are called Bob and are based in Ohio!), there, that's the Sherlock Holmes bit out of the way...yes, some good models in that little collection.

The #69 'Drop-Top' Rolls-Royce looking like a late issue with the Off-White seats, opened-up rear arches and of course the wide wheels, but as Alex says, the #8 Mustang is the star model, just love it as it sits there and I would probably choose that over the Rolls (got it anyway!), if we were choosing a model to keep as a free gift...Hint, Hint!!

Thanks for showing them here,
Ghosty.

Motorman,
I wish I had the Superfast boxes, and for that matter a mint in box complete collection! I am happy just to find these toys and nice condition! A story goes with the Rolls,it was given to me by a lady co worker several years ago. She found out that I collected Matchbox Toys, and told me she had one I could have. It seems someone gave it to her father ,who always wanted to own a Rolls, but never could afford one,so this was "his" Rolls Royce. I told her I would give it a good home.

That's a great story Bob and it's a pity you dont have the boxes.

I am very sure Ghosty will agree with me, the #69 Silver Shadow is a superb model to collect with numerous variations of body and baseplate colours, Too many infact if you are a completist!!!

Are you going to add to the collection Bob surely you can't stop now!!!! ;)
