Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I have been collecting Matchbox reg. wheels on and off since I was a kid. I collect Reg. wheels, King size, and Major Packs. I also have some Corgi's and Dinkys. Still have some of my original Matchbox's that I got in the 1960's. My favorite is my King Size K-8 Prime Mover, with the original box. I was one of those kids that didn't throw the boxes away. I just wish my Mother didn't give away the bulk of my original collection when she thought I wasn't interested in them anymore.I managed to save a few that she didn't find, and that is what made me start collecting again several years ago.

A warm welcome Bob, and Thanks for your story. Your Mom did what many of our parents may have done years ago, passed on some of her fondest memories of your childhood for yet another kid to enjoy. Your Lesneys are still out there for all of us to continue enjoying now, and re-collecting is what has made our Hobby so much fun for we 'adults' (He He, our wives know better!)
'A World of Joy in a Diecast Toy' is a phrase coined by a Club Founder years ago, and it applied to us both in our youth and even 55+ years later for me. Glad to have you here Bob, just don't bid against me on E Bay.......LOL, Ha  'Caveman' kwakers

Welcome Bob! Nice to have the state of Ohio even more fully represented. What part of the state do you call home?
Like yours, my fascination with this "MATCHBOX" story is confined to the pre-Superfast years that I knew as a kid. I've got the toys I had as a kid but unlike you I did NOT keep the boxes and most of my childhood toys are pretty rough. Our "MATCHBOX" were the favorite toys for me and my brothers.
You've stumbled onto a wonderful resource here between the forums and Nick's online variations guide. Don't be a stranger.

Welcome Bob and thank you for the story and information on your collection! Would love to see some photos at some point!
I started collecting in 1959 and also saved many of my boxes starting in the 60's. Fortunately, I put them in a couple of big liquor boxes along with my Matchbox collector cases and they stayed in my parent's basement for years. I kept reminded them to "not throw those boxes out"! I retrieved them in the early 90's and they were the core of "re-lighting" my collecting bug that continues today..............
Enjoy the forum-- it is a great group!
