53A Zodiac Wheel oddity

Noticed this little detail while photographing a few models. This blue Zodiac has a black rear wheel hub which I have never thought much of, other than it is not uncommon to see an occasional black hub on early transitional model. What caught my eye was the small metal disc lining the inside of the black hub. I thought this may have been a trial wheel or short production idea for the Superfast discs? Or, maybe this is something you have seen before and only recently noticed by me! Wheel numbers on the model are 13D or there about. Any thoughts?
Best,
David

Could it be that the wheel simply got hot-foiled on the wrong side?

You can see the foil on the back of the wheel. Interesting error.
I love errors like that.

Same here, 'Hot Foiled' on the 'Inboard' side of the wheel instead of the 'Outboard' side of the wheel, where it should have been done!
This is a nice 'Factory Oops' model.
Ghosty.

Never seen a wheel hot foiled on the wrong side before, even more fascinating to see it on a rare early SF - these 11.2mm wheel bases were earlier production than the more common 10.5mm bases so i would expect wheel mould numbers with 2 digits and no letters on this car????

on a different note it shows a S/F wheel as the spare on the box but a R/W is used in the model
question is did they have loads of old stock wheels to use up or did they keep making them for this type of use
and do any exist with S/F spare wheels

I have ever seen any Zodiacs with a SF spare Reg. I dint think engine cast would allow an SF hub to be fitted. I am not near my collection to check at the mo.
