Y-4 Duesenberg question

Hi all.
I found this at a local toyfair this morning (£2), The paint looks fine although the base has been removed and the seats and I think the roof has been painted.
The bumpers do have the y4 molded in but the roof is the correct H casting, Has someone destroyed a very rare model to create a fake of another very rare model?

Hi Nick, yes that roof casting is rare, very early ones have no brace across.(Normal ones its all filled in) How does the windscreen look underneath, is that fitted ok or has that been glued? Will be interested in the casting if it looks good.

Jason is correct. This was the second body casting and was a very short run interim casting. It would have looked like this originally.

Even if you can remove the yellow paint from the plastic components, because the rivet has been destroyed the model will always be devalued. Still worth having for that price!

Jason, - Yes the windscreen has been glued in place.
Bob - yes it looks exactly the same as the one in your picture.
I guess the paint could be removed or possibly the roof and interior replaced from a donor.
Oh well, I NEARLY has a piece to enter in the end of the year poll 2014,,,,,,,,Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Why not have ago stripping paint off the plastic or has the paint eaten into the plastic?

Shame the windscreen has been glued, has the fixing been used . Maybe this was a red one origionally with this early casting?

It should have black plastic seats and roof, Both are easy and cheap to obtain,
The yellow roof version is a slightly different casting and the regular casting is different again.
Both the yellow version and this version were very short casting runs, possibly pre pro?.

Jason I'm pretty sure the paint is original.

There are different widows in these roofs. The first roofs had 7mm windows with radius corners. Yellow and black. The later (normal run) roofs all had 8mm windows with squared corners.
