70b Slide Color

Post by pkp448 »

I've noticed a difference in the color of the slide on the 70B. The black slide is on the left and the grey is on the right. The one shown in the middle looks more brown than grey. Is this a different color or just a different shade of grey? Thanks.

I have one like that. I just assumed it was discoloured from sunlight or smoke!

Reminds me a bit of the colours on the Dodge Cattle Truck, is there a comparison?

Greetings, fellow Matchbox collectors .... (my first post) ... I've just found a brown one on one of mine to the e as well ... it's a definate differnet shade to the grey one.

I have 4 of the brown slide. Here are some comparisons with the four colors I have of the Cattle Truck. Looks like it more closely matches the "brownish grey" Cattle Truck.

nice...new variation to a model with few variations!
Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

IIRC, one is painted metal and one is molded with colored plastic. IMHO, a comparison seems fruitless.

No. The slides are definitely plastic.

My bad! The model is typical of post '65 additions to the line and one that failed to capture my interest. I had a few obligatory models with each color slide and never really examined them (as I had little to no interest or attraction with the model). Carry on.
