Does anyone have a list of all metal wheels produced that they can post?

Do you mean styles and sizes or models that have metal wheels?

If you go to Nicks site of variations you can count them your self as he lists the Metal wheels on all the models.

If you are concentrating on just the '3-inchers' from Lesney, it will be be just 75 models with metal wheels. The miniatures range was called the '1-75 Series' and all (as far as I know), were first introduced with metal wheels, gradually being replaced by Grey plastic wheels during 1959.

P.S. I am sure this thread will run and run as we each have our own views as to what models did or did not have metal wheels, the 'King-Size', 'Major Packs' and of course the early 'Moko' marketed toys outside of the ranges that we mostly concentrate on, here on the forum.

Unquestionably the best thing to do. Firstly, not all of the first 75 models had metal wheels - 52a, 54a and 57a onwards were all plastic I think. But by this time, several numbers were on their second variation, for example 5b. Then you ask yourself - do you include rollers on the tracked vehicles? Or the wheels on the road rollers? Do you want to restrict yourself to 1-75 series, because the gmw M2a sits pretty well with some of them, and some of the early Yesteryears sit well with the early 1-75 too. What about those models that started with metal wheels but were then changed to plastic? Collecting is such a personal thing you honestly would be best making your own list.


I assume you don't mean metal hubs with separate tyres by the way?

This is my chart of metal wheels (excluding rollers etc). I'm sure there are a few mistakes, but it is a good enough starting point for discussion and can easily be amended if necessary.

Hello Martin, what book did you get your listing from please? As in Stannards to start with the 4a and 4b MW are front 10 x 4, and the rear are 17 x 20,
On the 4b front 10 x 18, the rear 17 x 20. I have not checked the others . I suppose having a Stannards book one does not have to make a list of
of any of the wheel sizes. But very well compiled for collectors thank you very much.

Hi George,

I compiled it few years ago so can't remember the references now. I suspect most of it came from Nick's listing, but I have several others to hand, including Stannard. It is part of a bigger spreadsheet that includes plastic wheels of various types as well. Errors are inevitable, but if anyone wants to let me know where I've gone wrong I'm happy to revise the listing and repost it.
