Here in New Zealand a company called Lincoln tried to take over some of the Matchbox market share, and in a very naughty way. Needless to say, it didn't last.
This is the model I bought recently. Not my pictures but I always hold on to the listing photos after I won an auction.
This what it used to look like. You get the idea. Naughty!

Apparently only seven of the twelve models were boxed in this way, and only the early ones with crimped axles and treaded wheels.
I like the gift sets they issued. Not may of them around. The last set of these I saw for sale boxed went for $10,000 aus.

Hi Steve
There are Lincoln Matchbox boxes for all eleven models. While there are 12 models listed one is the same van in ambulance or plain form and I think there is only one box type for both. Robert's site http://www.robertnewson.co.uk/articles/ ... chbox.html shows all the boxes. Some are across the page in that section and some down the page.
In terms of the gift set do you mean there is a gift set using the matchbox copy boxes rather than the more modern shrink wrapped set using a plastic tray?
Matt
