The main differences of the castings between the 17a and the 17b models.

Image
The Radiators on the left 17a on the right 17b, also the roof line more flatter on the 17b model.

Image
Again the different roof line, also the tail gate on the 17b model is a bit bigger in height.

The Dark Grey and the Light Grey bases and also the interior, and GPW, and SPW fitted.

The two different colour bases Black and Red.

The different heights of the tipper due to a short and a larger tipper stop, with the short stop the tipper goes higher.

Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

I only have a handy picture of this one...

The furniture vans and taxi are among my favourites of the early castings.

Finally managed to find a code 1 without the body line inside, so hard to tell from most photos. Very pleased to add a new one to the collection. :)

Nice find Jason and as you say this detail is rarely seen in online pictures and I expect most sellers are not aware of the casting difference on this model, so that alone hides it from our (your), prying Eyes... :D

Nice find Jason, and thanks for the very useful reference photo - this is one of those variations that even with the benefit of Stannard is hard to know what you're looking for!

Cheers,
Gavin
