Hey all. I'm back, so now you can all rest easy. ;)
Thought this may be of some interest.
Didn't see it listed here...or anywhere. Please enlighten me!

What an amazing find! No idea how many of these were made but its a logical crossover and there are probably more out there particularly in the geographic region where this one was sold in store - this must be the new transitional ultimate find of 2014! please share a photo of the baseplate ;)

It appears to have a clear roof light (or is that a trick of the light?)!

Certainly is the find of the year for me, Mick. And thanks for the good words.
I feel like I truly found something special.

Could be a geographical thing like you suggest because the gentleman I purchased it from as another one, but it has been brush-painted.
I'll still try to get it from him though.

IDRIS - All the glazing is a very light blue.

The baseplate does have one very strange scar, but under very close inspection it reveals no sign of tampering.
It is after all painted in Superfast white, and not RW off-white.

Hi Dave,
What a great find, I have been looking for one of these for a long time.
I have one that was suppose to be a trial but the base rivets are to poor to confirm and also the colour is more white. The wheels on my one are solid with all J numbers, are your the same.
But at least now i can keep looking, thanks for showing the model.

Hi Jason,

Mine does in fact have all J numbers on the wheels.
I don't think I've ever learned exactly how to read these wheel markings.
It's a date code is it not? Is there a chart somewhere to decipher?

Seems like the rivets in the Binz Benz often look a little weak right from the factory from what I have seen.
Probably no reason to suspect anything wrong with yours I wouldn't think. Especially the front rivet on all 4 of mine look like it would pop off if you blew on it too hard.
I think front rivet on the later wide wheels one were improved.
I see your RW with the enlarged arches...NICE!!!!! Is that the one pictured in the reference section of this board?
And an RW in Superfast white? Double wow!

The nice fella I bought this from (not far from me in the States...my new pal!) said he bought this one back in the '80s and also said he has "seen a few" in his time, but not many.
He is also very close friends with Robert Freeman and asked him about it for me.
Mr. Freeman said the same thing - that he has seen a *few*, so I would think this one is not a pre-production and may deserve a place in the Variations Guide. (???)

Thanks for your interest, and it's great to be back here!

And what's a Crazy Scot without a low wheel arch SF Binz?! ;)
Good, I'm glad you like, and I really hope you find one.

I'd really love for this vari to make the variation guides so folks can know what to look for.
It's possible these have been listed for sale (though rarely) and got overlooked.

Plus the casting just looks SO much better and more correct this way.
:?: The thing I find most puzzling is why the butchered those wheel openings for the thin SF wheels in the first place. :?:
It's like they put the wrong variation into high-volume production, ya know?

Lesney decided to make bouncy suspension Hot Wheels style a key feature of their own Superfast range, arches needed to be cut out to enable wheels to travel to the max..................

This one bounces just fine. As good as any #3 SFs in fact. That's what gets me curios.
And there's virtually no side rubbing due to the low arches.
I can figure no good reason for enlarging them other than larger wheels were considered earlier than it actually happened.
