A rare first edtion box?

Hi, I'm new to this forum but been collecting matchbox for several years.
I recently bought a First edtion number 54 personnel army carrier boxed. When I took a closer look at the box, just below the MOKO sign on the front below the O is another O, which looks like a printing error.
Is this rare I've never seen this before?

Hi Duke 74,
Welcome to the site.
That's a cool box error. Never seen that before.

May be it's a special box for railway collectors, one of the first OO scale models for there layouts!!

Cheers Steve

Hi Eddie.
Welcome to the forum.
I have seen a few box errors which were mostly due to one of the inks running out but I have never seen one like this, very nice!.

Thanks Nick! Excellent site by the way :)
I've searched the internet, hunting to find out about this kind of error, but nothing. Like you I have seen the ones where the ink as ran out, so baffled by it. I'm not sure whether there's anyway to find out. I mean would a mistake like this make it quite valuable?
Out of all my matchbox I have, I am really puzzled by this one...
Cheers and thanks again Eddie

Interesting error piece - never seen anything like it.

It looks like the printing somehow got creased or twisted as part of the bottom black line inside the O doesn't run in line with the rest.
But no signs of misprinting - they'll be someone here who can figure it out (maybe someone in the printing trade?).

I think Ghosty may have some experience in printing techniques if my memory serves me right, maybe he can shed some light on how this error may have occurred.

Thank you both!
It makes you wonder if it was a Friday night nudge on the printer!
It's done well though to survive getting out the factory and for being nearly 60 years old.
Like Nick says I've seen pictures of the ink running out on a box but not another O on one.
Cheers Eddie

Thanks Alex, good memory!

It appears that a small bubble of ink-thinng oil has been allowed to fall onto the already printed surface with the base colour of yellow, when the black has been laid down, on top of the yellow, the ink has just come to rest on the oil bubble until it bursts, resulting in the black ink coming to rest in the wrong place, so it is not a letter '0' from the 'MOKO' name gone crooked, and it is smaller anyway, hope I have explained it clearly!

Ghosty.
