Variation Query - 10c Foden ?

Post by matchbox_hawkeye »

Hi All

Researching a recently acquired Matchbox Lesney 10c Foden Sugar Container "Tate & Lyle" I was unable to match it with Nicks Variation table - the problem I have is matching the Chassis, Hatch and Baseplate to the variation table.

I have photographed the model in detail here:

http://www.pwdnet.co.uk/MB/EB2G5_Matchb ... ehicle.htm

The details of the model in my possession are as follows :

{Wheel Type Black Plastic Nobbly Tyres } - {Rear Decal - No Crown} - {Body Line - with line} - {Cab Window - 4mm window height} - {Ejector Ring - Small } - {Chassis 1 - 3mm brace - 1mm wide chassis - no hole} - {Hatch 3 - Hinges stand out - 5mm width} - {Baseplate 3 - short clip without braces -} Code ?

Any thoughts or comments please ?

Any VBD Forum member interest to aquire this 10C Foden please let me know - there is no box.

The anomaly is clearly the type 1 chassis x type 3 hatch combination. Looking at Nick's variation table, the combination looks unlikely and, based on the hyperlinked photographs, I strongly suspect a misidentification of the hatch which looks more like a type 2 to me, so making the model a variation code 10.

FYI: The rear of the tank pops right off many of these models. It's not uncommon for some collectors to pop the end off one model and place it on a sugar truck with a missing end and better decals.

Hawkeye, if you wish to sell these models, please list them in the Marketplace forum and please stop soliciting buyers in the discussion forums (thanks in advance).
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
